About Us

Abhalmaya, made up of two Marathi words- ‘abhal' meaning sky and ‘maya’ meaning nurture, signifies our love for nature that extends beyond infinity. It is as huge as the sky.

The founder President Mr. Pramod Chaugule is a renowned architect in Maharashtra, India. After working as an architect for more than 25 years, he felt the need to educate people towards conserving the environment. Being a prominent figure in western Maharashtra, he set up the Abhalmaya Foundation in 2011 and since then there is no looking back.

We publish a trimonthly magazine in Marathi named ‘Abhalmaya’ and an English e-magazine of the same name. The Marathi magazine is available in hard copy as well as soft copy. They are made available on the website. Various books by local authors are also published under Abhalmaya Foundation.

Tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, literary festivals, scholarships, educational activities, cycle rallies and environment conservation awareness events are our USP.

Director's Message

As human beings, we are solely responsible for the development and the simultaneous destruction of Mother Earth, which is in-fact the only planet that supports eco-life and biodiversity. Just because we get everything for free from nature, we do not have any right to exploit it. On the contrary, it our supreme duty to conserve nature and care for environment.

My view is that we have to collectively take it up as a mission and thus thought of creating a pedestal to go about it in a sustainable manner.

Through the awareness campaigns and projects, I envision a desirable future state for human societies in which living conditions and resource-use continue to meet human needs without undermining the "integrity, stability and beauty" of the natural biotic systems.

This process will ensure that the society will achieve the holistic approach and temporal processes that lead us to the end point of sustainability . Therein lies the main reason for the existence of ‘Abhalmaya Foundation’.
